Mark Chambers
Estimator
Summit Waterproofing

Mark Chambers has been a member of our North Alabama IFMA Chapter since April 2010 and we’ve been very fortunate to have him.

Mark has worked with Summit Waterproofing as an estimator for almost 10 years.  His territory covers most of Alabama and Mississippi and some of Tennessee and Georgia.  His duties include new business development, maintaining old business, guesstimating, building inspections, attending as many social events as possible, looking over roof edges and showing up at people’s offices uninvited.

Summit Waterproofing specializes in repairing and restoring existing building envelopes.  They also do control joints, expansion joints and concrete repair work on parking decks.  They have also been known to coat the inside of a fountain or two, but do their best to leave roofs to roofers.

Mark’s past work history has included everything from washing dishes in the restaurant industry to working in a warehouse for a plumbing distribution company and stocking shelves at a major home improvement retailer.

Besides working and traveling, Mark is a very busy man representing Summit Waterproofing within several groups and organizations, including North Alabama Chapter IFMA, North Alabama Chapter BOMA, IREM Alabama, Alabama Society of Hospital Engineers, BOMA Alabama, Birmingham Chapter IFMA, CSI Birmingham, Mississippi Society of Hospital Engineers, Alabama School Plant Managers Association and the RCI Georgia Chapter.

Mark is also the leader of the Men’s group at his church where he participates in their monthly Community Ministries program.  The program prepares and feeds over 100 men and women in the community six days a week.  He also volunteers one day a week at STAIR Birmingham, a reading program that focuses on second graders in the Birmingham City Schools.  Mark’s hobbies include photography, sofa sitting, weed pulling and traveling anywhere he can convince his wife to go.

Mark grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Texas called Mesquite.  He lived in Jackson, Mississippi before landing in Birmingham where he’s lived for almost 25 years making it his longest place of residency, but he will always consider himself a Texan at heart.
